In short: for most of the year Cairo is 7 hours ahead of New York. A consumer on US Eastern time can be called from 3 p.m. to 4 a.m. Cairo time, the earliest start of the three countries we cover.

Egypt and the US change their clocks on different dates, so the gap drops to 6 hours for a few weeks each year. Egyptian call centers can list their team on Hear the Agent so US agencies hear them first.

US calling hours in Cairo time

Regulation F presumes that calls before 8 a.m. or after 9 p.m. at the consumer's location are inconvenient (CFPB, 12 CFR 1006.6(b)(1)(i), regulation text, checked Oct 29, 2026).

Egypt brought back daylight saving in 2023, after not using it in 2020–2022. In 2026 Cairo is on UTC+3 from April 24 to October 29 and UTC+2 otherwise (timeanddate.com, checked Oct 29, 2026). New York is on daylight time from March 8 to November 1, 2026 (timeanddate.com, checked Oct 29, 2026).

Two mismatch periods a year

A 3 p.m. start covers the whole Eastern day and lets the shift end before dawn for East Coast work.

Put the two mismatch periods in your rota each year. A fixed local start time is one hour late for the US morning during those weeks. Egypt's clock-change dates have moved in past years, so check them again before each season.

Where Egyptian outsourcing work is based

English, measured neutrally

The EF English Proficiency Index 2025 ranks Egypt 89th with a score of 458 (listening 451, speaking 453). Alexandria scores 480 and Cairo 478 (EF EPI, 2025 edition).
